Aren't you supposed to set Base timing with vaccum advance plugged off. Why set timing again?

Takes some deep pockets to build a motor like that .. Looks really good, and seemed to be street-able too with that smooth power curve .. Love seein' my blue oval distributor on the front of the motor builds . good stuff .

Not a good method to test pulstar plugs. Using a carburetor to test horsepower gains without increasing jet sizes to make up for the increases in burn capacity given by pulstar capacitive discharge is unempirical. If you want to test horsepower gains from pulstar or any other in increase in burn capability of secondary ignition system you would need to make adjustments in fuel supply to the chamber, be it increased fuel jet size, or increased injector pulse in a fuel injected setup. The fuel injection setups can be programmed to automatically increase fuel supply to the chamber based in Oxygen readings at the exhaust, and make immediate adjustments to the fuel supply to the chamber, along with immediate timing changes. The test you performed means nothing when it comes to determining the performance of pulstar plugs. Run that same test using a Fuel tech or Micro tech setup and you will see a completely different set of results showing a significant increase in horsepower and torque.

As much as i want a 427 sbc... dollar per hp is just not there. 700hp for a 20-25k engine.

I had a sbc cranking out 1200 hp and then I woke up and started my oil burning 307 😢

Pushing 700 Hp through a Flat head block? My boyfriend just said it's an invitation for shrapnel!!!! I think he's right....I'm in my 70's now and most of my hot rod involved family is gone now. But they and I saw the greatest days.....

One of my uncles had a Big bore Flathead first Chrome looking ceramic coated Tattersfield Heads. Then he used the ugly Kogal heads with very deep cooling fins. Amazing memories.

Havnt finished the video yet but maybe you address it. I have had fantastic results using the isky o ring tool to cut the block for a copper ring .020 proud. Has completely fixed my HG issues all the way to 70psi so far. I used to have issues around 40psi.

Is this the same engine that I saw in a picture that stated it was a 640 c.i. v-12 with three 4 barrel carbs and two ignition distributors?

Does anyone know what the bore & stroke of this engine was ? I doubt it was only a 312 cu in engine.

I have been around drag racing and also stock cars all my life and i noticed all the stock car racers they have similar motors to the drag racers...... if u watch them cold start them.... the stock car guys will turn the motor over before firing to build up oil pressure.... the drag car guys don't even bother... just start them cold and let them warm up..... what is the difference between the two engines that one needs to be oil primed and the other one doesn't yet both engines make 700 800hp and both rev to 7500 8000 +

I remember rebuilding the flathead in our 1953 Ford mostly helping my older brother who was a mechanic that was ahead of his time as he could do anything. So most all of this is in my memory from 1958 as I helped him as he engineered this project.

Imagine this in a car. That car would put even Hellcat Redeyes to shame.
